Handy Tech is one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturer of electronic aids for the Blind and Visually Impaired. With pride we can look back on 40 years of company history.
The founder of the company, Klaus-Peter Schönherr, was a pioneer in the field of assistive technology for the Blind and Visually Impaired. His invention made it possible to provide access to computer systems for blind users, for the first time. The world’s first Braille display was produced in our company’s head quarters in Horb, Germany, using the world’s first refreshable Braille presentation. Today, Braille displays, meanwhile in the sixth generation, are an essential part of equipment in the professional life of a blind person.
Handy Tech Elektronik GmbH emerged from the Blista EHG in 1994. The company foundation of Handy Tech by Dipl.-Ing. Siegfried Kipke was a new start for an innovation driven success story. Starting with 8 people, our team meanwhile has grown to more than 40 co-workers. In 2017 the company was renamed in Help Tech GmbH and Marc Züfle (B.A.) was acquired as the second managing director.
At Help Tech one third of our team members are themselves blind or visually impaired. Support and advice provided by our team is based on daily experience with electronic aids in our own work environment.
It is our mission to create products which contribute to the improvements of quality of life for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Customer services are continually enhanced at Help Tech as customer satisfaction is our prime quality guide line.
